Course Summary

This course is ideal for individuals who have management responsibilities but no formal training and are keen to develop their abilities. It particularly supports practising team leaders seeking to move up to the next level of management and managers who need to lead people through organisation change, budget cuts or other pressures.

There are no prior qualification entry requirements to study this qualification although ideally you will be working within an organization where you are able to gain the knowledge and experience that will enable you to complete. You may also use previous experience of either working in an organisation or one that you are familiar with.

By undertaking this programme, candidates will be able to further their own continuous professional development, which may improve their career prospects, or progress on to higher level studies.

As a learner on this qualification you will develop a range of skills and knowledge required for leading and managingothers. The course is made up of a wide range of units covering core management skills such as understanding how to organise and delegate, plus skills in communication, team leadership, change and innovation. It also covers managing people and relationships. There is flexibility in the unit choice allowing the qualification to be tailored to meet the needs of both yourself and your employer.

To be awarded the diploma, learners must achieve a minimum of 37 credits. There are two groups of units to choose from. From Group 1 you must choose units that total a minimum of 19 credits. From Group 2 units totalling a maximum of 18 credits are required.
