The Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector programme at Nescot College is an initial award, designed for applicants who are:

• Not yet teaching and wish to explore the possibility of teaching in Post-16 education, or
• In-service and require an introduction to teaching in Post-16 education, or
• In-service and would like to progress to the full teaching qualification leading to QTLS status, or
• In-service and would like to progress to the teaching qualification leading to ATLS status for those with a more limited teaching role.

This 3 unit course comprises 12 credits at Level 3 or Level 4 including one micro-teach observation. And the completion of a learning journal.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements however, if you cannot demonstrate Level 2 ability in Literacy and Numeracy, you will be supported in working to achieve this. This may require some independent study.

Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector : Level 4

Career Progression

On successful completion of PTLLS students can progress to the Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) or the Foundation Degree in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector as appropriate.
