Beauty Therapy: Level 2 Diploma

Course Summary

This full-time course is for those who want to become qualified Beauty Therapists. On this study programme you will develop your practical skills.

New Students

A minimum of three GCSE’s at grade 4 including English and one grade 3 GCSE’s*. You will also be interviewed in the spring term by a member of the Beauty Team.

*The College reserves the right to ask for a school reference if required.


Progressing students

Level 1 Diploma in Beauty with the majority of grades being merits or above plus English. A satisfactory reference for attitude, behaviour, attendance and punctuality.

This course will qualify you to work as a Beauty Therapist, completing Level 2 treatments in a salon, or perhaps working in cosmetic sales. This Level 2 qualification should also enable you to progress onto further study and training, for example, The Diploma in Advanced Beauty Therapy Level 3.

Students will be expected to purchase their own beauty kits for the course, including uniform, which can be brought from nominated suppliers at enrolment. Approximate cost £250. Help may be available with additional costs, please contact Student Finance.

The main course in this programme consists of underpinning knowledge and understanding alongside the development of practical skills within a salon environment treating paying clients. You will also develop key skills such as communication and information technology.

Topics covered will include facial treatments, manicures, pedicures, eyelash tints and eyebrow shaping, waxing (cool and hot), make-up and anatomy and physiology related to the treatments given. Teaching will take place in our purpose-built salons, where you will also learn about the business side of the beauty industry. Maths and English are included in your programme if you have not already achieved a minimum of a grade 4, in order to boost your employability and to enable progression to higher levels of training.
