Working in and with the industry

We want to give you a real taste of the industry whilst you're studying with us. As a company, we have been out on tour both with a pantomime and self-written Christmas play and know this offers an exciting style of performance. You will also work together in full-scale productions in both onstage and backstage roles, which provides a completely different view of performance.

We enrich your education with theatre visits, both to watch performances and tour backstage. We also receive stage schools such as Mountview and Laban to perform for us here at Nescot. We work with industry professionals, who provide workshops and training in elements such as scriptwriting, classical theatre, commedia dell'arte and stage combat. We also invite guest speakers and past pupils to provide an insight into higher education, the industry and a career path.

Your Career

A career in performance is an exciting but demanding choice. While our courses develop your talent, we also teach you to become grounded, resilient and determined but, most importantly, to really understand the industry. Success in this field is based on more than raw ability and our courses focus on your teamworking skills while teaching you to harness your creativity to showcase your talent.

Previous students are working and training at all levels in the industry and we pride ourselves in that our students leave Nescot with a clear direction, skills base and grounding to excel in higher education and the industry. We will work in detail to help support your choice for stage school or university, ensuring that you are fully prepared for your higher education auditions.

These courses not only give you the cutting edge technical and physical skills you will need but develop your own creativity and your understanding of your profession.

You will learn how to work as part of a company. As a member of Up Stage Right, you will be given an insight into the various performance industries, what positions are available and the skills you will need to get that dream job.
