This course is the ideal qualification for students who wish to study towards a career in forensic science, criminal investigation or gain a science qualification for studying in Higher Education to become a paramedic as you will be trained in the different disciplines required in these industries.

During your studies, you will develop the scientific knowledge alongside practical and problem solving skills to enable you to progress into employment or onto a range of Higher Education courses. You will study a range of core scientific units and specialist units that offer knowledge, skills and techniques used in the vast field of forensic science and applied science skills that can help you gain a career as a paramedic. Throughout the course you will develop your scientific understanding and practical skills through a series of assignments and challenging investigations
The course aims to give you a varied learning experience and will be a combination of a student centred approach to learning, involving research for assignments, visits, guest speakers, lectures, group work and discussions.
An experienced team of lecturers, many of whom have worked in scientific industries and London Ambulance Service will support your learning. You will need to be prepared to work independently, carry out in-depth research and use a variety of information sources during this course.
You will study a range of core and specialist units over the two years of the course. The specialist units have been carefully selected to keep your options for further study as broad as possible whilst giving you specialist knowledge of key areas.

You will be provided with all the basic resources and materials needed for your programme. Some additional fees are required to cover costs of trips and activities required to take place to gain criteria to pass this course. You will also need to purchase a laboratory coat for the course.

At least five GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (grades A*-C), including English or Maths and Double Science grade A*-C. Alternatively, Level 2 Diploma at Merit or Distinction, with grades 4 or above in Double Science and English or Maths.
From this course you can either progress on to Higher Education at HND or degree-level or into a chosen service providing you meet their entry requirements in the uniformed public services.
