Acoustics

The Acoustics and Noise Control department at Nescot College is one of two specialist teaching facilities in the South East dedicated to training acoustic engineers capable of finding practical solutions to problems relating to the control of noise and vibration in the environment and the work place.

Our Staff

Our Acoustic and Noise Control team draws on expertise developed through many years of successful teaching, research and consultancy, and is supported by strong links with employers and practitioners in the noise control industry. The IOA Diploma course has been run at Nescot since 1978.

Our facilities

To support these courses, our Acoustics Laboratory is equipped with a wide variety of modern instrumentation for the analysis and measurement of noise and vibration. Students on our courses will receive a full grounding in current theory and practice in areas like the principles of acoustics and noise control, acoustic measurements, building acoustics and noise control engineering, environmental noise, theory of sound radiation and propagation and noise and vibration measurement and instrumentation.

Additionally our test facilities, including a reverberant chamber with silenced air supply and a semi anechoic room, provide an acoustic testing service for industry, as well as an excellent resource for delegated practical and project work for our students.

Your career

Acoustics and Noise Control are areas which have grown enormously in importance in recent years and there is a high demand for these skills across many of the fastest growing, most exciting sectors in industry.
