Chris Grayling Explains Westminster

Shadow Home Secretary and Epsom MP, Chris Grayling, recently took a break from the hurly burly of the economy to speak to Public Services students about the intricacies of constituency and parliamentary work.

Questions ranged from the purpose of the Chief Whip to the process of passing Law, as students hoping to enter the nation’s uniformed public services discovered the innermost workings of the Westminster machine.

Isabelle Evans, 16, who went to Overton Grange School in Sutton before coming to Nescot, said the discussion had opened her eyes to the importance of the parliamentary process.

‘Chris explained things clearly,’ she said, ‘The bottom line is that if you don’t vote you can’t very well complain if things go wrong.’
