Nescot has been singled out as exceeding expectations in supporting its staff. At the beginning of October, the college was reassessed for its Investor In People status, which it has held since 1998. Assessor Peter Kearns, of Quality South East, visited Nescot and spoke to all departments to determine the levels of satisfaction staff feel with their working environment, procedures and leadership. Having investigated the college’s continuing commitment to its staff he reported that Nescot had ‘substantially met the award, had continued to improve and exceeded the standards required in a number of ways’.
On hearing how far the college had improved standards, Quality South East then contacted Nescot to say that, in their view, the college qualified for a higher level of recognition and would be awarded Bronze Level status. They also congratulated the college on this ‘exceptional achievement’. This recognises the commitment staff have to the organisation’s success, the confidence felt in the leadership team, and the recognition of staff achievement and freedom of communication within the college. Nescot believes its staff are its biggest asset and is delighted to have received this award. The college will now be working hard to maintain high levels of satisfaction and to continue to improve where possible.
