Each year, students studying on the Nescot Childcare and Health and Social Care courses at Nescot get the opportunity to take part in work experience programmes in a wide variety of specialist care employers, such as nurseries, playgroups, schools, care homes, hospitals, youth clubs, as a well as organisations that provide specialist support for the disabled or with children with additional needs – and the staff and students would like to say thank you.
They want to thank placement providers for giving them experience of the real working environment they will enter once they have completed their qualifications. There are thanks also for the care and support local organisations have provided in helping the students to really understand the theory and practical elements of their course. And perhaps the biggest thanks is for making them so employable!
Nescot is known for its commitment to providing outstanding teaching and learning to its students and the latest data produced by ALPS (Advanced Level Performance System) shows that in 2012 level 3 Health and Social Care students at Nescot achieved more than their grades on entry predicted. In other words the students achieved more by studying at Nescot than with their previous school.
The data shows Nescot is now in the top 10% of colleges nationally for the quality of its teaching and achievements, and in the top 25% for enabling its students to achieve more than could be predicted when they joined the college.
More students than ever before have applied to join the department in September so if you are a local employer or community organisation and would like to find out more about Nescot’s care courses and work experience programme, or can offer placements to students, please e-mail: Sharon Aston email@example.com or Janet Graham firstname.lastname@example.org
