Apprentices can save money on London travel under new scheme

Apprentices can now apply for an Oyster photocard to get money off travelcards in Greater London.

To get the new discount, you must be aged 18 or over, living in a London borough and in the first 12 months of your apprenticeship.

The card entitles you to 30 per cent off travelcards and bus and tram passes when travelling in the London fare zones, but pay as you go journeys are charged at the standard adult rate.

Epsom and Ewell and Mole Valley are Surrey boroughs, but eligible boroughs include Sutton, Croydon, Kingston and Merton.

To apply online you will need your Unique Learner Number and UK Provider Reference Number, a digital colour photo, your email address and a credit or debit card to pay the £10 fee.

Visit Transport for London’s website to find out more about the apprentice photocard, how to apply and how much you could save.

You could also visit the Advice and Guidance Centre in Student Services, Central West Wing, or call the team on 020 8394 3038.
