Business students at Nescot are organising a range of events to benefit The Children’s Trust.
The second-year Level 3 BTEC Diploma class are hosting activities including a 'Nescot’s Got Talent' showcase, a five-a-side football tournament and a competition to guess the number of sweets in a jar.
"Our module is all about running an event, but we thought if we did it for a charity then we would be supporting a good cause while we were learning," said student Sheena Carmichael.
"We wanted to support The Children’s Trust because the work they do is so important, and we also wanted to fundraise for a charity that is local to Nescot."
The group’s first event will be a cake sale, with treats baked by students sold to staff and other learners in the TER today (September 24).
The football tournament will take place at lunchtime in the sports hall on October 14 and 15, costing £1 to sign up and 50p to watch the matches.
The competition to guess the number of sweets in the jar will be held in the Refectory at lunch time on October 15, with the closest guess winning the jar. Entry will be 50p per guess, or £1 per three.
Auditions for Nescot’s Got Talent will be held in the Adrian Mann Theatre at lunch time on November 4. The show itself will be held in the theatre at 2-4pm on November 26, with admission £1.
The national Tadworth-based Children’s Trust supports children with acquired brain injuries, multiple disabilities and complex health needs.
The charity offers expert nursing and medical care, specialist education and rehabilitation, and is also involved in research and policy development.
