Two coffee mornings organised by Nescot students have raised £239 for Macmillan Cancer Support - the highest amount the events at the college have ever raised.
The events, held in the Season’s Café in the newly-built Seasons Learning Hub, were held on Thursday and Friday last week.
Students on Preparation for Life and Work courses arranged the mornings, selling cakes, candles, photo frames and ‘recipes in a jar’ they had made.
There were also competitions to guess the name of the bear and the number of coffee beans in a jar.
Head of Department Lynn Reddick said: “We have been supporting Macmillan since 2006 with the coffee mornings, but this year the students on the Progression into Employment courses created handmade gifts to sell, as well as organising different competitions and the events on both days.
“They made the highest amount ever, and were an absolute credit to the department and themselves with their enthusiasm and professional customer service skills.”
