A free acting showcase is being held at Nescot on December 11.
The Monologue Slam is being organised by UpStageRight, the Performing Arts department’s theatre company, and will feature up to 15 students from the Level 3 Extended Diploma and the Higher National Diploma.
The group will perform monologues from published plays including The Trench, Mules and Eight.
A host of industry professionals will be attending the showcase, and staff are hoping the students who impress on the night will be offered second-round interviews with drama school directors and casting agencies.
The event is the first of its kind being held at the college, but if it is a success it could become an annual event.
“We’re really looking forward to it and we think it’s going to be a great opportunity for our talented students to show what they can do,” said Subject Leader Gavin Maxwell.
The show will be held at 7pm in the theatre in the Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) building. Anyone is welcome to attend and places do not need to be reserved in advance.
