Nescot hosted the Southern Area Finals of the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists on Monday.
More than 150 competitors travelled to the college from institutions including Central Bedfordshire College, North West Kent College and Harrow College, along with their models.
Six judges, led by Goldwell’s Head of Education Irene Miekle, also attended to choose the winners of categories ranging from Ladies Evening Style and Classic 1950s Makeup to First Year Blow Dry and Commercial Nail Art.
Students on Hair and Beauty courses at Nescot were among those taking part, with four students winning prizes.
Concettina Tropea and Sophie Connelly came second in the Team Bridal category, Rian Clarke came second in the Men’s Commercial Cut and Finish section, and Ingrid Loekito came third in the Level 3 Skills Challenge.
The four students will now travel to The Winter Gardens in Blackpool for the national finals of the competition, to be held on March 17.
“I was very pleased to see so many competitors attend, and the standard of work was incredibly high,” said Mark Pawsey of Nescot's Apprenticeships team, who organised the competition and is chair of the AHT's Southern Region.
“We’re also very proud of the four Nescot students who made it to the national finals, and we’re looking forward to supporting them in Blackpool.”
