Apprenticeship Week starts on March 3, and we’ve got all kinds of things planned here at Nescot.
Monday February 24
Charity day: 1.30-4.30pm
Preparing Nescot to get Apprenticeship Week 2014 off to a flying start is the hair department's charity day. The team will be offering services including a shampoo and blow dry and hair styling in exchange for a donation to charity. The department will also be holding a raffle, with tickets going on sale on February 24. Prizes include hairdressing products and services. All the money raised will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support for the charity's nurses for children's services in the Surrey area. The charity was chosen by the hairdressing and barbering apprentices. To book an appointment, call the salon on 020 8394 3096 or email firstname.lastname@example.org, and to buy a raffle ticket visit the salon.
Tuesday March 4
Schools visit: 9.30-11am
Year 9 and 10 pupils from nearby schools are visiting Nescot in the morning to find out more about Apprenticeships, how the qualifications work and whether an Apprenticeship could be the right route for them. They’ll also be chatting to staff from the REED NCFE Centre about finding a job and what kind of skills and qualifications employers look for.
Tuesday March 4
Employer Fayre: 12.30-4pm
Plenty of employers will be in the Refectory to talk about full and part-time jobs and Apprenticeships at their companies. All students are welcome to go along and find out more, and no appointments are needed. Companies that have been confirmed so far include: KIER, QEF Foundation, B&Q, Willmott Dixon, Surrey County Council and Care UK.
Wednesday March 5
Open Evening: 5.30-8pm
We will be holding our usual Open Evening, where anyone can drop in and chat to staff and students about full and part-time courses, with a special focus on Apprenticeships. Apprenticeships Director Lindsey Biggs will be giving informal talks in the staff lounge, and there will be interactive activities in the café opposite the TER.
Thursday March 6
Apprenticeship Recruitment Event: 5-7pm
Staff at the REED NCFE Centre will be holding workshops with apprentices who have already applied to Nescot. There will be coaching on CVs and job interview techniques. To make an appointment, call the centre on 020 8394 3051 or email email@example.com
