Seasons Café is run by people studying Transition into Employment, who cook and sell food including jacket potatoes, sandwiches and cakes.
Their opening event, held from 12-1pm on October 19, will see all proceeds used to buy provisions for Epsom and Ewell Foodbank, such as tinned vegetables, nappies, laundry tablets, dried milk and toothbrushes.
“We know that our students and staff will support the soup kitchen as we try to raise as much money as possible to help as many people as we can.”
People in crisis are given foodbank vouchers by care professionals, such as GPs, health visitors, police and probation officers and Citizens Advice Bureau staff.
As well as a supply of emergency rations, foodbank staff can also provide a hot meal and refer people to agencies that will help with the longer-term issues.
