Nescot has launched a new management course aimed at helping businesses to develop the leadership skills of their staff.

The new Level 5 apprenticeship in Operations/Departmental Management is being offered in partnership with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and Leadership Management International (LMI).

The course is aimed at people who are working as mid to senior-level managers, including directors, partners and business owners, who wish to develop their understanding and application of management skills and behaviour.

"We are very excited to be able to offer this apprenticeship, drawing on the vast experience and fantastic resources supplied by both CMI and LMI," said James Jennings, Head of Apprenticeships at Nescot.

"This provides a truly first class opportunity for us to help local organisations to develop highly-skilled and effective leaders."

An apprenticeship is a way for people to earn a wage while developing new skills and earning a qualification. Anyone aged 16 or over can do an apprenticeship, and they offer a way give specialised training to existing staff as well as to take on new employees.

A qualification at Level 5 is broadly equivalent to a Foundation Degree, or an HND. Nescot is an approved CMI centre and CMI will be assessing the course, so successful candidates will also achieve the status of 'Chartered Manager'.

Nescot has been delivering Further and Higher Education for more than 60 years, and was rated 'Good' by Ofsted in 2016. The college's clients include BAE Systems, Nuffield Health, Sutton and East Surrey Water, and Surrey County Council.

The apprenticeships team has won SATRO awards for high performance for the last three consecutive years.
