Nescot team to launch £40,000 job boosting scheme for youngstersWhen Nescot’s Head of Entry Level, Lynn Reddick, was nominated for a Star Award last year, she embarked on a journey that would see her awarded £40,000 to spearhead a government campaign to improve the lot of society’s least advantaged youngsters. In a whirlwind year, Lynn has consulted with ministers at 10 Downing Street, visited exciting new initiatives in New York and Florida and has now been chosen to roll out similar schemes for youngsters in the UK, beginning here in Surrey. read more

Team building activities bring out the best in Nescot travel studentsTravel and Tourism students at Nescot were thrown in at the deep end at the beginning of their course when they embarked on a camping trip to Blacklands Farm in East Sussex. The year-one students, who barely knew one another before the trip, spent two days carrying out challenging team building activities like abseiling and crate building. For many of the students it was their first experience of camping and the experience saw them bond very strongly as a group. read more
Public Services rise to the bootcamp challengePublic Services learned the importance of teamworking and a positive mental attitude on a trip to Blacklands farm on the 24th of September. Groups from the 1st and National Diploma courses spent 2 nights and 3 days at the bootcamp where they had to cope with the most basic of camping facilities and gruelling days of training and activities. read more

Nescot wins award for ‘exceptional’ staff satisfactionNescot has been singled out as exceeding expectations in supporting its staff. At the beginning of October, the college was reassessed for its Investor In People status, which it has held since 1998. Assessor Peter Kearns, of Quality South East, visited Nescot and spoke to all departments to determine the levels of satisfaction staff feel with their working environment, procedures and leadership. Having investigated the college’s continuing commitment to its staff he reported that Nescot had ‘substantially met the award, had continued to improve and exceeded the standards required in a number of ways’. read more

Students check out latest beauty innovationsBeauty students enjoyed a trip to an exclusive trade fair in London’s Olympia exhibition centre on Monday 21st of September where they had the opportunity to see the newest products and techniques to wow the industry. Students were surprised at just how busy the fair was, with crowds thronging round the stalls of over 250 industry exhibitors. Many said that after the trip they had gained a new understanding of the scale of the beauty and cosmetics industry. read more
