The Mayor of Epsom & Ewell, Councillor Rob Geleit, unveiled his official portrait photographed by Ben Smith, one of Nescot’s Creative Media students, at the college last week.

The Mayor, a former HND Computing student, chose to have his official portrait for his mayoral year 2023/24 photographed by Nescot students.

Ben, a student on our Creative Enterprises Professional Diploma course, was ecstatic that his image was chosen for the Mayor’s official portrait. “It was great to meet the Mayor and I’m thrilled that my image got chosen,” said Ben at the unveiling.

He added, “Studying the Creative Enterprise course has helped me significantly. The tutors are amazing and encourage us to do our best and be independent. I hope to pursue a career in the field of media.”

Louise Gaskin, Head of Department for Creative Media Studies, said, “We are delighted that the Mayor commissioned one of our students to photograph his official portrait. Ben has done an incredible job, this is a great honour for him and we are so proud of what he has achieved.”

The Mayor’s portrait will be displayed at Epsom & Ewell Borough Council Town Hall.
