A student on a 'Supported Internship' programme with Nescot has starred in a European swimming competition. Conor Macauley-Conway took part in the SUDS European Swimming Championships held in Portugal earlier this month. A highly experienced competitor, Conor recorded personal best times in three races and won the Bronze medal in 1500 metres. His efforts helped ensure that Britain finished top of the points table. Being part of this winning squad is just the latest in a list of notable swimming successes for Conor over the last few years.

Conor has been studying with Nescot over recent years and is now a 'Supported Intern' with the college. He spends the majority of his time in the college working in the Nescot Sports Centre & Gym. This role includes preparing and setting up equipment indoors and outdoors, ensuring safety, customer service and much more. His manager Rory Boggett said: "Having Conor in the Sports Centre team, with his competitive and can-do attitude, is an exciting opportunity to showcase Conor’s talent. I look forward to supporting his development over the coming months”.

Supported Internships combine secure employment with learning in college for young people with special educational needs. More information on the Supported Internship is here
