Graduation Ceremony

Nescot's Higher Education Awards Ceremony will take place in the Diomed Room, Epsom Downs Racecourse, on Weds 7 Feb 2024.

Timing

The ceremony will start at 2.30pm, however you MUST arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the ceremony starting to allow for gowning and photos. The registration desk will open at 12 noon and close at 1.45pm sharp. Please arrive as early as possible: there is plenty of seating and a good cafe on site!

Please allow ample time for your journey!

To ensure a smooth-running ceremony for everyone, graduates arriving for gowning after the desk closes cannot be admitted.

Guests only: Please advise us in advance if any of your guests cannot arrive by 1.45pm by emailing graduation@nescot.ac.uk by Sunday 4 February. Any guests arriving after 2.15pm may not be admitted.

All graduands and guests must be seated in the Diomed Room by 2.20pm, or as directed on the day. Please listen to announcements and instructions from staff on the day regarding taking your seats.

We expect the ceremony to last approximately 90 minutes but we are unable to give an exact time.

After the Ceremony, graduates and their guests are invited to the Principal's Reception in the Lammtarra Room for sparkling wine. There is the opportunity for guests to take their own informal photos at this time, overlooking the racecourse or in one of the event suites.

Tickets

Booking for graduates and guests is now open. Please refer to the email you received from us for all details on booking tickets.

Booked Tickets must be collected on the day at the Registration desk, Duchess's Stand, Epsom Downs Racecourse. It is important that you let us know on the booking form of any special requirements (e.g. access, seating) as once seats have been allocated it will be difficult to make amendments. If you have booked tickets and need to let us know about any accessibility requirements, please email graduation@nescot.ac.uk by Sunday 4 February.

Nearly all guests must have paid in advance - BY EXCEPTION we may make arrangements to pay in cash on the day, and this will have been confirmed by email in advance. If paying on the day, it is essential that you have the right money, in cash, available to pay at registration, as there are no facilities to pay by card.

Gowning

The ceremony is a formal academic occasion and academic dress must be worn by all graduands. No graduand can be presented with their award on the stage if they are not wearing the correct gown. Graduands must arrive by 1.45pm at the latest to ensure time for robing. Latecomers will not be able to be admitted.

Photography

Nescot and external agencies hired by Nescot will be taking photos and video recordings throughout the day. If you did not book formal photography when booking your tickets, don't worry - you can arrange and pay for your photography on the day.

From Gowning, you will be able to proceed to the Photographers.
Portraits and family group photographs will be taken in the studios in the Oaks Hall on the Ground Floor of the Duchess's Stand, Epsom Downs Racecourse. Although the photographers will be closed during the Ceremony, they will be available again afterwards for as long as required to meet the demand. There may be queues at times so please be prepared to wait. If you arrive in plenty of time for the ceremony you should be able to get your photo beforehand - registration opens at 12noon.

We expect that professional photos will also be taken on stage as graduands collect their award. These are available to purchase after the event from our third-party partners. Details will be available on the day.

By attending the ceremony you give Nescot permission to use photography and video images for any promotional or publicity reasons.

Your presentation - saying your name correctly!

All graduands in attendance will have their name read out to collect their award on stage. We want to pronounce your name correctly and will do our best! You can email us with a phonetic spelling of your name by 12 noon on Monday 5 Feb if you want to ensure we get it right!
