Hairdressing apprentices work in a paid job four days a week and attend Nescot for one day a week. An assessor from college will come and visit you at work regularly. At work, your duties will include staffing reception, answering calls, greeting clients, washing clients' hair and making them refreshments, and keeping the salon clean and tidy.
Whichever job you apply for, you'll need to show that you're hard-working and passionate about the hairdressing industry. You'll be working with customers, so your employers will want to see that you are presentable, polite and communicate well. You'll also need to show you have awareness of health and safety legislation, good attention to detail, follow instructions and work well in a team.
