The Access to HE Computing will set you on the right track for a career in IT and Telecoms. Digital Technologies such as Software Engineering and Network Security are a growth area for job opportunities in London and the South east. This course is designed to give upskill adult learners to gain the skills and knowledge they need to gain employment in the IT Sector or move on to further study of Computing at a University level.
Learners will need to have four GCSEs grades C/4 or above (including Maths or English) or a Level 2 qualification equivalent or higher. Learners will also be subject to an assessment interview with the course leader.

This is a work-related course, with assignments based on real life problems that occur within the IT Sector. You will learn about software and hardware technologies used in industry and apply these technologies in the design and creation of applications and hardware systems.
Study Skills are an integral part of this course. Web Design, Programming and Networking are covered in depth in this course together with a range of appropriate languages. Visits are arranged with local employers to give an insight into how systems are used in the workplace.
You will have the opportunity to access fully equipped tech labs as well as industry standard software.
You will study units on study skills and preparing for higher education as well as subject specific units designed to give you and introduction to the core computing disciplines. These will include:
Classroom activities will involve group work, peer assessment, discussion, written work and assignment work. Lectures, Demonstrations, Self-directed study, Practical work, Presentations, Tutorials and Online Reading. You will be assessed in various ways including Observations, Group work, written assessment, Tests and Exams, Oral presentations, Project and time constrained assessments.
