The Access to HE Business course at NESCOT will give adult learners a range of skills that are necessary to pursue a career in business, self-employment and providing a solid platform for further study in the subject area at Higher Education.
In addition, the set of key skills developed are valued by employers; the course includes the key business areas of marketing, human resource management, and finance, as well as the operational and planning abilities associated with business decision making. Within this context, students develop their skills as business practitioners through a range of work-related learning and assessment opportunities.

The program of study will cover relevant, current and appropriate topics for the current climate of business, enterprise and Entrepreneurship. These modules have a combination of introductory topics, specialist topics which will develop industry desired skills and key skills you will need if you are to develop your own business.
You will take units on study skills and preparing for higher education as well as subject specific units designed to give you and introduction to the core business disciplines. These will include:
Classroom activities will involve group work, peer assessment, discussion, written work and assignment work. Lectures, Demonstrations, Self-directed study, Practical work, Presentations, Tutorials and Online Reading.
You will be assessed in various ways including Observations, Group work, written assessment, Tests and Exams, Oral presentations, Project and time constrained assessments.

Learners will need to have four GCSEs grades C/4 or above (including Maths and English) or a Level 2 qualification equivalent or higher. Learners will also be subject to an assessment interview with the course leader.
