Course Length

One year course, 6 hours per week for 36 weeks.

Current course is running on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6.00pm to 9.00pm (1 September 2020 to 1 July 2021)

The Professional Synoptic* is scheduled on Tuesday, 13 April 2021 and you must be available on this date. The first resit for the Professional Synoptic* is scheduled on Tuesday, 8 June 2021 and you must also be available on this date. There is a final resit opportunity for the Professional Synoptic* on Tuesday, 27 July 2021 and it is advisable that you are available on this date.

Course Detail

Organisations hire AAT qualified members for their knowledge, skills, diligence and enthusiasm, because AAT represents the highest standards of professionalism.

The AAT qualifications are part of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). NQF qualifications are made up of units but the qualification will only be recognised when course is completed in full.

  • AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting – Level 2
  • AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting – Level 3
  • AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting – Level 4

If you do not wish to complete all the levels, you may attempt one or two levels only. In addition to college attendance, you will need to spend between 6 to 8 hours each week on home study.

  • Management Accounting: Budgeting
  • Management Accounting: Decision and Control
  • Financial Statements of Limited Companies
  • Accounting Systems and Controls
  • Personal Tax
  • Credit Management

*Some units will be assessed only by an end of unit assessment, while others will also be included in a synoptic assessment. The synoptic assessment tests the understanding of connections between the different topics covered across the qualification. Each qualification has one synoptic assessment, which will be sat towards the end of the qualification. All assessments in this qualification are computer based, time limited exams, set and marked by the AAT.

The qualification will be awarded an overall grade of Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Must be 19 or over on 31 August 2020 and hold an Advanced Diploma in Accounting AQ2016, Level 3 Diploma in Accounting (AQ2010/13); AAT Intermediate NVQ3. Evidence of qualification should be brought to the interview.Interview with one of the AAT tutors.
