Course Summary

This qualification aims to develop awareness of financial products and services such as savings accounts and loans. It will increase knowledge of saving and borrowing money and help you to make informed decisions when choosing financial products and services. It will also help you to understand the risks to personal finances and to compare goods products and services.

You do not need to have any formal qualifications in order to follow this course, but you will need to demonstrate commitment and motivation to work through the specially prepared distance-learning materials.

Having completed this course, learners may wish to consider further study in Business Administration and Customer Service.

The course will focus on areas such as credit and payday loans and tackle many of the issues that millions of adults are facing in the UK today.

This course is suitable for adult learners wishing to gain a better understanding of personal finance and the products and services which can positively and negatively affect it.

Candidates work through the course materials for the programme at times convenient to them, so there is no need to attend the college to gain the qualification.Learners should aim to complete the course within 8 weeks.

The course consists of two modules:

  • Workbook 1: Understand personal finance.
  • Workbook 2: Making the most of personal finance.

Assessment

The learning materials contain the knowledge needed to meet the assessment requirements of the course and activities to allow candidates to practice their skills and test their learning. Assessments are based on a combination of knowledge and skills learned on the programme and work-based activities and experience.
