This is a one-year, day-time course which combines practical and theory sessions to give you good practical skills with underpinning job knowledge of advanced Carpentry and Joinery.

Course Detail

This course is available on part time day mode of attendance only. You will be given details of course materials, stationery and the health and safety equipment required when you enrol on the programme.

You will work towards achieving six units of competence and an end of year City&Guilds examination.

Unit details:

  • Assist in establishing the operational area
  • Assist with progressing operations
  • Assist with organising resources
  • Co-ordinate and install first and second fixings
  • Co-ordinate and erect carcassing
  • Produce timber products (circular saw)


This CSKILLS/NOCN qualification is recognised by the construction industry as a training programme, however it does not qualify for the award of a CSCS Card.

Entry Requirements

To enrol on this part-time course you need to have successfully completed the Level 2 Diploma and have current employment in the construction industry. You will be required to bring in evidence from your place of work as part of your unit assignments.

Your Next Steps

Successful completion of the Level 3 Diploma will allow progression to a higher level construction qualification.

Other Information

Students are required to provide steel toe capped boots and overalls for practical work.
