The whole department is deeply committed to helping you become the care professional you want to be. We will give you a thorough understanding of the theory of your chosen area and provide you with innovative, exciting opportunities to put that understanding into practice. Whether you are already working with children and want to take your career further, or are just starting out Nescot’s Early Years courses will show you how to keep children healthy and happy.
Early Years Educator: Level 3 Apprenticeships
Early Years Educators, and other job roles such as nursery nurse and childminders, are highly trained professionals who play a key role in ensuring that young children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. They work in a range of settings including full day care, children’s centres, pre-schools, reception classes and as childminders. They may either be working on their own or supervising others to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements set by Government for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old.
Introducing Caring for Children and Young People: Level 2 (Distance Learning)
There are many factors that can impact on children and young people at different stages of their development. It is important to understand what these factors are, as well as the ways in which children and young people’s development can be enhanced through activity and interaction. Throughout this qualification, learners will explore how children’s development can be influenced.
Residental Childcare: Level 3 (Distance Learning)
This qualification is part of the new children’s homes regulations which came into force in April 2015. This course will enable you to develop the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people in a residential childcare setting, including an understanding of child and young person development.
Healthcare Play Specialism: Foundation Degree
Nescot is pleased to work with the University of West London, in delivering the Foundation Degree in Healthcare Play Specialism. The course is designed for individuals wishing to study for a career as a registered Health Play Specialist. This degree supports the development of professional competencies in the field of therapeutic play for children and young people in hospital and community healthcare settings. Successful completion of the programme leads to registration with the Healthcare Play Specialist Education Trust (HPSET).
Our staff are experienced practitioners, not only in the field of early years but in the multi-disciplinary areas of health and social services. They are passionate about providing this higher education pathway which combines academic study with work based learning for those who would like to remain in work whilst studying.
The best thing about our course is the supportive teachers. They’re really knowledgeable and they have so much experience. I did an apprenticeship at Nescot, so I was really glad to have the opportunity to study here again. I’m doing the Foundation Degree at the moment but I’m planning to do the top-up to convert it to a full degree. I’m planning to work as a teacher in the future, and I know that this qualification will help me to get there.HEAR FROM OUR STUDENTS
