Access to HE (Nursing pathway): Level 3
The Access to HE (Nursing pathway) is a programme that seeks to prepare people who wish to study towards a degree in the field of Nursing.
Access to HE in Health and Human Sciences
The Level 3 Access to HE Diploma is a nationally recognised qualification, designed to provide preparation for study in higher education (HE) in the UK for adults aged 19+ returning to education. It provides a balance of essential study skills with specialist subject knowledge, preparing students for the academic and practical rigour of undergraduate study in Health and Human Sciences.
Food Premises Inspection Higher Certificate: Level 5
Any Environmental Health Assistant or Technician who wishes to develop their career in Food Premises Inspection, must, according to the current Food Standard Agency Code of Practice, be in possession of an Ordinary or Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection awarded by the Environmental Health Registration Board. This course is designed to prepare you for the examinations for this Higher Certificate.
Healthcare Play Specialism: Foundation Degree
Nescot is pleased to work with the University of West London, in delivering the Foundation Degree in Healthcare Play Specialism. The course is designed for individuals wishing to study for a career as a registered Health Play Specialist. This degree supports the development of professional competencies in the field of therapeutic play for children and young people in hospital and community healthcare settings. Successful completion of the programme leads to registration with the Healthcare Play Specialist Education Trust (HPSET).
Awareness of Mental Health Problems: Level 2 (Distance Learning)
The Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems is designed for learners working in a range of settings within the public, private, voluntary and community sectors. Mental distress takes many forms. This qualification aims to broaden learners’ knowledge of mental ill-health and the most commonly diagnosed mental health conditions. Candidates work through the course materials for the programme at a place convenient to them, so there is no need to attend the college to gain the qualification.
Cleaning Principles: Level 2 Certificate (Distance Learning)
This course is ideal for anyone with an interest in the processes of cleaning both domestically and within the industry. Gaining an understanding of the basic principles of cleanliness and hygiene can allow you to make informed cleaning decisions and enable you to open doors to a new career or progress within a current role.
Common Childhood Illnesses: Level 2 (Distance Learning)
This course is ideal for learners who wish to increase their knowledge and understanding of common childhood illnesses. Anyone who aims to progress on to further qualifications and employment within the health and social care sector, particularly within an early years setting, will benefit from this course. Candidates work through the course materials for the programme at times convenient to them, so there is no need to attend the college to gain the qualification.
Diploma in Care: Level 2 (Distance Learning)
This course is appropriate for learners whose central role is to give care. The qualification is applicable to a range of care settings and roles, and will be ideal for Support Workers, Domiciliary and Residential Care Workers, Health Care Assistants and those who work in a clinical workplace. To achieve the course successfully the learners must complete 24 credits from the mandatory units and 22 credits from the optional units; totalling a minimum of 46 credits altogether.
Improving Personal Exercise Health and Nutrition: Level 2 (Distance Learning)
This course is ideal for people who are interested in improving their understanding of diet and nutrition for exercise. It will be particularly useful to those who work in an environment where an understanding of nutrition and health is relevant, such as sport and recreation or healthcare.
Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care: Level 2 (Distance Learning)
This course is designed to increase the knowledge and understanding of the key principles of working in adult social care. The course has been mapped against the Health and Social Care National Occupational Standards and learners who successfully achieve this qualification will increase their professional confidence, enabling them to be competent in their work role.
Prevention of Infection in Health Care Settings: Level 2 (Distance Learning)
Infection control is of major concern in hospitals and other healthcare settings. It is the responsibility of everyone who works in, or visits, such environments to ensure that the spread of infection is avoided. The qualification is ideal for anyone who wishes to gain an understanding or update their awareness of the causes of infection and how these can be managed and controlled.
Principles of Dementia Care: Level 2 (Distance Learning)
There are approximately 820,000 people in the United Kingdom who have some form of dementia, with numbers expected to rise above one million by 2025. Understanding The Safe Handling Of Medicines: Level 2 (Distance Learning)
