Digital Design (Graphics and Visual Communications): Level 3 UAL Extended Diploma

Course Summary

The Digital Design (Graphics and Visual Communications) course has been designed to reflect industry and as such you will develop your creative, design and technical skills across a number of sectors such as graphic design, 3D design, and traditional art techniques. Using industry standard software and equipment you will complete a diverse range of digital design projects that will stand you in good stead for either full time employment or a route into university – level study.

New Students

4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above - including English and preferably Art and Design or an Art and Design related subject (Textiles / Graphics / Photography / Media).*

Progressing Students

Merit grade at Level 2 in a creative arts subject plus a satisfactory reference for attitude, behaviour, attendance and punctuality.

Following your interview you will also be required to submit a Digital Portfolio:

  • 10-15 examples of work sent as a PowerPoint or PDF – examples of work should include photographs of sketchbook pages / design ideas in progress / finished pieces of work / designs completed in own time.

*The College reserves the right to ask for a school reference if required

  • 3D Design and Modelling
  • Life Drawing
  • Graphics and Typography
  • Type setting and Layout
  • Traditional Art Techniques

You will use industry standard software such as the Adobe Suite and Maya.
