Construction Multi-Skills: Level 1 Diploma

Two GCSEs at grade 2 or above in English and Maths.*

*The College reserves the right to ask for a school reference if required

You can progress onto a one of other construction craft programmes such as brickwork, plastering or carpentry, in order to develop your skills and knowledge further.

Please note:

• Students aged 16 to 18, or those aged 16 to 24 who have a valid EHCP, and are studying Further Education courses are not charged for course fees

You will study the following Mandatory Units:

• Construction Health and Safety
• Construction Multi-Skills (involving Carpentry, Brickwork and Plastering)
• Further Construction Multi-Skills (involving Carpentry, Brickwork and Plastering)

In addition to the mandatory units, you will complete some of the optional units in order to achieve the full Level 1 Diploma:

• Construction Community Project
• Construction Principles
• Cost Calculations
• Employment in the Construction Industry
• Environmental Awareness and Sustainability in Construction
• Erect and Dismantle Access Equipment or Working Platforms
• Handle, Move and Store Resources
• Modern Technologies in the Construction Industry
• Personal Skills in the the Construction Industry
• Personal Wellbeing in Construction
• Repair and Maintain Masonry
• Repair and Maintain Plasterwork
• The Construction Industry
• Wall Coverings

Work Experience is a part of this course, the hours and dates will be determined by the course tutor. Work experience can be up to a maximum of two weeks on an external placement, you are encouraged to source your own placement with support from the WEX Team and your course tutor. Where external placements are not possible you will be expected to take part in simulated work experience organised by the college.
