This qualification provides the ideal introduction to the construction industry and cover essential skills in the following construction trades: bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, plastering, painting and decorating, wall and floor tiling, electrical and plumbing.It is ideal for those students that require an insight into the construction industry before selecting a specific trade.

There is One Mandatory Unit:

  • Introduction to health and safety in construction
  • Carpentry
  • Plumbing

Plus, between 24 and 34 credits from a wide range of the optional involving:

  • Brickwork
  • Plastering
  • Decorating
  • Wall & Floor tiling
  • Electrical

  • Fees are for 2019/20 and relate to home and EU students
  • Students aged 16 to 18, or those aged 16 to 24 who have a valid EHCP, and are studying Further Education courses are not normally charged for course fees

Entry Requirements

At least two GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and Maths, and a satisfactory reference from your school.

You can progress onto a number of other construction craft programmes such as brickwork, plastering, carpentry, plumbing or electrical (subject to English and maths grades).
