14 - 16 Progression Pathway

Nescot's 14-16 progression pathway is designed for young people who are currently home schooled or would benefit from an alternative to the traditional school based curriculum. These students will have anxiety rather than significant behaviours. The 14-16 Unit at Nescot is not a Behavioural Pupil Referral Unit; Students study English and maths Functional Skills alongside science, religion and vocational tasters.

14 - 16 Transition Pathway

Nescot's 14-16 offer is designed for young people who are currently home schooled or would benefit from an alternative to the traditional GCSE Curriculum in a mainstream setting. If you are interested, please contact us for a tour and trial session prior to filling out the application form.

16+ Progression Pathway: Level 1

This course is for students progressing from the 14-16 Progression Pathway or students new to Nescot who need to improve their English and maths levels to progress into main college.  This full-time course is based within Foundation Learning with a focus on English and maths skills development.  Students will experience taster sessions in the wider college, in a variety of curriculum areas to inform their progression decisions for the following year.  The Personal Development Units are accredited by the Prince’s Trust.

Further Education Pathway: Entry Level 2

The Further Education Pathway has been designed for students who are planning to go on to Further Education. Students take part in sessions on personal development whilst experiencing vocational tasters. The aim is to build confidence and independence as well as helping students to decide which vocational pathway would suit them best.

Further Education Pathway: Entry Level 3

This pathway has been designed for students who are planning to go on to Further Education. Students take part in sessions on personal development whilst experiencing vocational tasters. The aim is to build confidence and independence as well as helping students to decide which vocational pathway would suit them best.

Further Education Pathway: Level 1

Construction Skills for Highway Maintenance (E3)

Created in collaboration with Ringway, Surrey’s leading highway maintenance contractor, and their major supply chain partner Eurovia Surfacing, this one-year entry level course is designed to provide a pathway to the Ringway Highways Maintenance/Groundworks Apprenticeship, or a similar apprenticeship with Eurovia or other supply chain partner. With a growing demand for skilled workers in this field, the course develops basic skills in Construction, Employability and Digital, with a focus on application to highway maintenance. Certificated by the Gateway examining body, the Building and Construction specification is delivered with input from Ringway and Eurovia staff with live briefs/industry projects, masterclasses and enrichment activities.

Entry 3 Employability - Construction or Computing Pathways

Student's will choose one of the following pathways: Entry Level 3 Introduction to Computing Pathway or Entry Level 3 Grounds Work and Construction Pathway. These courses are designed to equip students with transferable skills to enable them to “Hit the ground running” when they start work. Students will prepare for job interviews and practice interview skills, while developing skills required for the local job market.Students will study personal development and English and maths alongside the vocational pathway.

Foundation: Entry Level 1

This qualification is aimed at students who are transitioning into college from a specialist learning environment and require high levels of support. Students will have the opportunity to experience a range of vocational tasters, while identifying employability skills and improving independence. The course includes lessons in functional skills, literacy and numeracy, as well as encouraging physical fitness, wellbeing and creative expression.

Introduction to Hospitality and Catering: Entry Level 3

The intent of this qualification is to help students get their first job in the hospitality sector. Students will learn about many aspects of the industry and gain valuable practical and teamwork skills. The qualification covers various routes, including cookery, food service and the industry as a whole.

Supported Internships

This study programme is aimed at young people who have a statement of Special Educational Needs or an Education, Health and Care Plan, want to secure paid employment and need support to do so.

Supported Living Pathway: Entry Level 2

This pathway is for students who need support to develop life skills to help them become more independent. The majority of the sessions are practical so students are able to experience and develop skills in personal care, household skills, communication, travelling independently, accessing external services and becoming a valued member of the community.
