Print Share Ask a questionThis course prepares you for a variety of careers in health and social care, for example, Nursing, Social Work, Probation, Youth Work, Radiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. You will study a range of subjects including equality, diversity and rights in health and social care, first aid, human physiology, and effective communication. You will also attend work placements in different settings for 300 hours.
New Students
Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English, Maths and preferably a Science.*
Progressing Students
Progressing students require a Level 2 Diploma at Merit or a C grade equivalent. Plus a good reference and excellent attendance.
Please note, all applicants will be asked to apply for an Enhanced DBS check before starting the course.
*The College reserves the right to ask for a school reference if required.
If you are successful on this course you may progress to Higher Education, professional training or directly into a range of occupations in health and social care.

The course forms the main vocational element in your individual programme of study which will also include an opportunity to improve your GCSEs in English and Maths if you do not already have these. Work experience in a health care or early years setting is an essential part of the course.
As part of this course you will be required to attend an external work placement for total of 200 hours over the duration of your course, the awarding body determines the number of hours required to pass this qualification.
