Professional Diploma in Performance

Course Summary

The UAL Level 4 Professional Diploma in Performance has been designed to provide students with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress into higher education or conservatoire training and may also support students intending to progress directly into employment in the performing arts industries.

This course is FREE for under-19s (please check with us at interview/enrolment)

Entry includes an interview and successful audition. A Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts or relevant subject at Merit grade or A Levels (C and above including Drama or relevant subject). Ideally GCSE English and Maths at minimum Grade 4 or equivalent*.

*The College reserves the right to ask for a school reference if required.

An enrichment fee of approximately £200 will be required to be paid by each student to cover extra-curricular workshops and trips which will occur throughout the year.

This qualification will provide students with an opportunity to stretch and refine their practical skills levels whilst defining their own personal interests and area of expertise. The qualification is suitable for students who intend to pursue a career in the performing arts. It allows them to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating and demanding and provides a supportive transition into either higher-level training or employment. 

It is made up of 3 units – Unit 1: Applied Professional Practice, Unit 2: Specialist Performance Practice and Unit 3: Specialist Performance Project.

Classes including stage acting, acting for screen, singing and voice, movement and musical theatre technique will sit alongside regular opportunities to rehearse and perform to an audience at a professional theatre venue. You will study health and wellbeing whilst exploring the demands of the industry. Regular classes in audition technique and repertoire will ensure you are fully prepared for future auditions and casting calls.
