Nescot Principal & CEO Julie Kapsalis was presented with both ‘Employer of the Year’ and ‘Community Hero’ trophies at the Dynamic Awards, held last week in Brighton.

Julie won both awards for her leadership and contribution to the work of the college, with the judges commenting: “What sets Nescot apart is its educational prowess and dedication to innovation and student and staff empowerment”, and singling out Julie’s “invaluable work [with Nescot] for the local community of Epsom & Ewell”.

The ‘Community Hero’ award was sponsored by Plus X Innovation, and presented to Julie by its CEO Mat Hunter. “I am especially proud to be recognised for Nescot's work in and with our local community,” said Julie. “Across the college my colleagues have been developing valuable partnerships with local employers and organisations, raising funds and awareness for charities, and helping look after our green spaces. Colleges like Nescot are a powerful force for change and social mobility and I am determined that we continue to grow the links and impact that we have in our borough and neighbouring areas.”

The Employer of the Year award was sponsored by ISON Travel, whose CEO Helen Cannon presented Julie with her second trophy of the evening. Helen said, “Julie…exemplifies unwavering commitment to the Nescot team. Her dedication drives business success and nurtures personal and professional growth.”

On receiving this award, Julie said: "This recognition for our work as an employer is testament to the incredible team at Nescot and the impact they have on our students. I am so proud to be a part of this team who change people’s lives through learning, innovation and kindness.”

The Dynamic Awards are an annual event organised by Platinum Media, recognising and celebrating the achievements of female business leaders across the whole of the South East region. “It is a huge honour to be nominated alongside so many inspiring women tonight,” added Julie. “The event brings together an exceptional group of female and male leaders and many new opportunities for collaboration have been established through the awards and networks they have created.”
