Trials are being held this month and next for Nescot’s new football academy.
Try-outs for Nescot’s new partnership with non-league club Sutton United will be held at Nescot from 10.30am to 12.30pm on May 27 and June 20.
Trials for the college’s own development football squad, run by Fulham FC Academy coach Jack Johnson, are being held at the college at 6pm on June 24.
Neil Barnett, Head of Sport and Public Services, said: “We’re really lucky to have this new football academy with Sutton United, which gives our students unparalleled opportunities.”
Students at the academy, which is co-directed by former Sutton footballer Marvin Williams, will work alongside UEFA-licensed coaches and play in the Football Conference Youth Alliance League, feeding into Sutton’s youth squad and aiming to make the first team.
Training will be wide-ranging, encompassing psychology workshops, physiotherapy screenings and specialised coaching, and students will be able to study towards coaching qualifications.
Sutton United, which has a 5,000 capacity ground on Gander Green Lane, is hoping to have a 3G pitch ready for next season and has launched a new season ticket offer which sees two adults and two children paying just £10 to come to a game.
