Nescot is the best-performing General Further Education college for overall apprenticeship achievement in the whole country.

Figures from the government’s recently-released National Achievement Rates table showed Nescot’s overall achievement rate for apprenticeships is more than 20% higher than the national average.

“This is a tremendous achievement, and something we are incredibly proud of,” said Frances Rutter, CEO and Principal at Nescot.

“This success reflects the hard work of Nescot staff, our business and delivery partners and our apprentices, and we look forward to growing and evolving Nescot’s highly-successful apprenticeship provision.”

The National Achievement Rates, which the government published earlier this month, show the proportion of apprentices at each provider who successfully complete their qualification.

Nescot’s overall achievement rate for apprenticeships for 2017/18 was 91.3%, compared to a national average of 67.3%.

“Apprenticeships are a great way for people to gain new skills, whether they are just starting out in their career or aiming for new opportunities,” said Melanie Herridge, Business Director at Smith & Byford.

“They are also a brilliant way for organisations to grow their businesses, whether that’s by recruiting new staff, upskilling team members or developing senior managers.”

Nescot delivers apprenticeships in subjects ranging from business and IT to construction and catering, with qualifications from Level 2 to Level 5.

The college also has a Business Centre, with expert staff on-hand to help employers to find, recruit and train apprentices and to access apprenticeship funding.

Apprenticeships are a way for people to earn while they learn by getting a vocational qualification alongside practical experience at work.
