Children at Nescot’s on-site nursery are fundraising for Children in Need this week.

Today (Thursday, November 14), the children have dressed up in spots or in their pyjamas, and they’ve been visiting staff and students across the campus to sell cakes in exchange for donations.

Julia Donovan, the manager at Nestots, said staff at the nursery work hard to plan fun themed practical activities for the children to take part in across the year.

“We make lanterns for Diwali, decorate cakes for Christmas, and eggs for Easter, for example,” she said. “The children love making things and getting involved with arts and crafts or cooking.

“We always plan different elements of each theme so that children of all ages can get involved, and we make sure that we’re thinking about different cultures and healthy lifestyles, or raising money to help others.”

Staff are hoping to raise as much as possible for Children in Need, which is the BBC’s corporate charity.

Nestots is a 54-place day nursery at Nescot in Ewell. Staff care for children aged from three months to five years old, and the nursery was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2018. You can find out more here.
