Our next Open Event is on Tuesday 4 March

Nescot’s Performing Arts students are gearing up for their annual showcase of acting, musical theatre and performances. WinterFest 2024 takes place over six days, starting on Tuesday 26 November until Thursday 5 December.

The shows are open to the public and held in the college’s own theatres. They range from plays, musical theatre and panto to a monologue competition and a jazz night, all performed by students from across the Performing Arts department.

Leanne Bentley, Performing Arts Curriculum Standards Co-ordinator said, “WinterFest is a wonderful display of amazing student talent. The department is a hive of activity with our students putting in endless hours of practice each day. The showcase is a great opportunity for our students who we treat as professional performers in ‘real’ theatre companies, to demonstrate their skills.”

All students work as professional theatre companies, with Levels 2 and 3 comprising Forge Theatre and university-level students working as Nexus Ensemble.

Leanne added, “WinterFest is an unmissable chance for the local community to enjoy quality theatre performances on their doorstep. Don’t miss out!”

WinterFest schedule:

  • We kick-off WinterFest on Tuesday 26 November with, ‘When this is Over’, a thought-provoking play about hope and future performed by our Level 2 students.
  • It’s feel-good vibes with our musical theatre showcase on Wednesday 27 November, featuring a variety of solos, duets, group numbers, ballet and tap.
  • Our acting pathway and Level 4 students present original and contemporary pieces of writing in our acting showcase on Thursday 28 November.
  • Join Dick Whittington and his Cat on Tuesday 3 December, for a panto performance by our Level 4 students filled with innuendo and double entendre.
  • Watch students from across our department take part in the monologue slam competition judged by industry professionals on Wednesday 4 December. The competition includes a contemporary and Shakespeare round too.
  • We round up WinterFest with our fantastic jazz night on Thursday 5 December. Listen to our students sing with a four-piece live jazz band and enjoy soft jazz music to get you into the mood for Christmas.

The shows all start at 7pm and are recommended for ages 15+. If you would like to attend WinterFest, for further details and to book tickets please fill in our online booking form here.
