Our next Open Evening is on Thursday 15 May.

Nescot students and staff along with peers from the SurreyFE colleges group, had headed off on a trip of a lifetime to Bali last month. Our students returned with unforgettable and lasting memories of their amazing experience. The two-week trip, run by Think Pacific, combined a unique blend of cultural learning and impactful work.

Think Pacific briefed students on useful Balinese phrases and cultural insights before they set off to experience an immersive and packed itinerary to enhance their learning. They visited Bali Kuno set in breath-taking countryside where they learnt how to craft Canang sari offerings, tasted local dishes and participated in team building activities including learning the traditional dance. They worked with mental healthcare charity, Bali Bersama Bisa, presenting ideas to break mental health stigma, and put their artistic skills to the test in a painting class at Five Arts Studio, creating beautiful Batik artworks.

Other visits included, a tour of a coffee plantation where they observed the coffee roasting process, exploring the magnificent Tegalalang Rice Terrace, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where the adventurous ones enjoyed the zip-line and the giant jungle swings and a day out to the Tegenungan Waterfall located amidst lush greenery in the Kemenuh village. The incredible trip ended with a visit to the breath taking Kintamani mountain and Lake Danau Batur.

One of the students, Gregory shared, This trip has truly been a once in a lifetime experience. Each day, we immersed ourselves in the rich culture and traditions Bali has to offer, creating unforgettable memories with everyone”.

Another student, Shannon added, “This trip has opened my eyes to a whole new world and I will never forget what I have experienced here in Bali”.

Student, Zach expressed,It was really mentally refreshing. I’ve made great memories with a fantastic group of people.”

Amber Watson, Quality Assurance Manager from Nescot, who was part of team of staff that accompanied our students on the trip said, “This has been an incredibly enriching experience for the students, one that will shape them for the rest of their lives, and I’m truly proud to have been a part of their journey.”

“It’s been inspiring to witness how respectfully they interacted with the local Balinese community and how fully they embraced the programme put forward by Think Pacific. Watching them represent the college with such integrity was just as fulfilling for me as it was for them. I’ll look back on this trip with fondness, knowing it will be something we all carry with us for the rest of our lives.”
