Nescot students get set for WorldSkills UK 2025 National Finals | Nescot

Four Creative Media students from Nescot (North East Surrey College of Technology are getting set for the upcoming national finals of the prestigious WorldSkills UK Competitions, which will take place for the first time at venues across South Wales from 25 – 28 November.

After demonstrating excellence in their skill at the qualifiers, students, Chloe, Joe, Matthildi and Rhamia, will now compete against top apprentices and learners from across the UK in Digital Media Production at the national finals.

We caught up with Nescot’s fantastic four to chat about taking part in the regional qualifiers and preparing for the finals.

Chloe shared, “Our preparation is going really well, we all work really well together. As we’ve worked on past projects together, we’ve learned how to collaborate effectively and understand each other’s strengths and work as a united team. It’s a great experience.”

Joe commented, “A stand out moment for me during the regionals, was tackling a project that was completely new to us. Each of us had our own tasks, and when we came together at the end, it was great to see how well everything fit. To help us prepare, our tutors have done a fantastic job setting us up in different environments and giving us a variety of projects to work on. It’s helped us develop our individual skills and learn how to bring them together as a team.”

Matthildi added, “It will be amazing to win, but more than anything, we’re focused on enjoying the journey and experience. One of the best parts, has been working closely with my teammates and seeing how well we work together. It’s a real team effort.”

Rhamia concluded, “We’ve worked really hard to get to where we are, our preparation has helped us to hone our skills and improve. One of the highlights for me taking part in the regionals was how we handled the briefing. We split the work evenly, played to our strengths, and collaborated really well. It showed how far we’ve come as a team and how much we’ve grown throughout this journey.”

Jess Taylor, Creative Media tutor, Nescot said, “We’re so proud our students are in the WorldSkills UK National Finals! As a tutor, it’s incredibly rewarding to see how they’ve risen to the challenge. Beyond their technical skills, what really stands out is their friendship. They’re not just teammates, they’re genuinely close friends, and that connection has certainly helped their team dynamic.”
