Team Nescot recently completed their first Student Motorsport competition season at the legendary Silverstone circuit (11 and 12 October 2025). The Student Motorsport competition, part of the BRSCC Nankang Tyre CityCar Cup Championship, is the world’s leading competition offering real-world trackside experience for the next generation of motorsport professionals.
A team of four students Bradley, Matthew, Theo and Riley, representing Nescot’s new cohort of Motorsport students geared up for their first trackside experience at the season finale. Silverstone saw a packed weekend of activity with a record 15 Student Motorsport competition cars, entered by nine teams.
George Keith, Curriculum Manager for Automotive and Engineering at Nescot, commented: “Team Nescot have had an incredible first season at the Student Motorsport competition. They were thrilled to successfully complete their debut season at Silverstone, the iconic heart of British racing. They’ve truly shone through, earning the respect of many other teams and finishing 8th out of 15 college entries. We’re so proud of all our students who took part throughout the season, especially the student team who represented Nescot at the season finale with professionalism, determination and true team spirit.”
George added: “A huge thank you to our sponsors, LKQ Euro car parts, Boss Dog and Evans autos for their support. We’re also delighted to confirm that Elliot Lettis will continue with Team Nescot next season, bringing a wealth of experience both as a driver and mentor, with his strong mechanical expertise.”
During the electrifying race weekend, Team Nescot also took part in the 2025 Student Motorsport Pit Stop Challenge, securing a respectable fifth place. A core part of the Student Motorsport Competition, the challenge is designed to showcase the practical skills, teamwork, and resilience honed by the teams throughout the season, reinforcing the invaluable hands-on learning and work-readiness focus central to the programme. New for 2025, the challenge was split over two days of the race weekend. During the simulation, teams raced against the clock on the Nankang Tyre CityCar Cup feature race car, to complete a series of tasks, including changing wheels, adjusting tyre pressures and damper settings, cleaning the windscreen, and changing the driver. The contest also involved volunteer students from the grid who take part in demonstrations, judging, and technical re-setting of the race car.
JP Latham, Founder and Managing Director of Student Motorsport said, “The Silverstone finale offered much more than high-stakes on-track action; it delivered invaluable professional development and networking opportunities for our student competitors. The Student Motorsport paddock was buzzing with activity, welcoming influential guests and crucial partners whose presence is a testament to the competition’s role in bridging the gap between education and an inclusive, professional motorsport career”.
