Nescot’s Level 2 Travel and Tourism students are benefitting from learning opportunities at Brooklands Museum in Weybridge, Surrey. The collaboration, offers our learners work experience in various roles at the Museum’s events, to develop their skills for their next steps.
Students attended a bespoke orientation day led by staff at the Museum, where they received training for specific departments to help them undertake a variety of customer service roles at the Museum’s events.
For their first work experience opportunity, students supported the Brooklands Mini Day where they distributed promotional material and information to attendees, conducted marshalling, and food and beverage duties. The experience gave our learners the chance to develop their customer services skills and confidence in assisting members of the public at a busy event.
One of our students, Moiz, said that speaking to customers and processing food orders at one of the stalls during the event, helped him learn a range of skills.
Jennifer Fasad, Travel and Tourism lecturer at Nescot said, “Thank you to Brooklands Museum, we really appreciate the time taken to develop this work experience opportunity for our students. The learning will help our learners build interpersonal and transferrable skills for careers in customer facing roles within the travel, hospitality and events industries.”
Samantha Mitchell, HR & Business Services Director at Brooklands Museum said, “Brooklands Museum are thoroughly enjoying partnering with Nescot to provide bespoke learning opportunities for their students aligned with our charitable objective to inspire future generations. It has been a great opportunity for both of us and we are looking forward to having Nescot supporting on our future events.”
