Travel students enjoyed a trip to Portsmouth last week (October 19), as part of their unit learning about tourism destinations in the UK.

Students on Level 2 and the first year of the Level 3 qualification braved the top of the Spinnaker Tower, and visited the attractions at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

“The students worked hard to research and plan their trip beforehand,” said Curriculum and Standards Coordinator Jennifer Fasad.

“They worked well to apply what we’ve been talking about in the classroom, including thinking about different job roles as well as applying their customer service knowledge throughout.

“We looked at the products and services available, including how they were marketed, and we applied this to a historic visitor attraction and a new one.”

Students will be travelling to Virgin Atlantic’s Heathrow hanger next term, as well as travelling to Tenerife for their overseas trip.

Nescot offers Travel and Tourism at Level 2 and at Level 3. Students go on a wide range of trips to support their learning, from UK destinations to trips abroad, as well as welcoming expert speakers.

Students can take extra qualifications in Resort Reps, Aviation Operations on the Ground, as well as Cabin Crew, and they also do work experience placements each year to help put their skills into practice.
