This course is designed to be a bridging year to an Arts degree course at a university or specialist art school.
Print Share Ask a questionThis Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Art and Digital Design is intended for students to build a body of work within their chosen specialism.
Working in our state-of-the-art studios, students will interweave their practical work alongside contextual awareness. There will be an experimental approach to the course with a carousel of workshop-based briefs designed to upskill you in all key areas before specialising in your chosen discipline.
This course is FREE for under-19s (please check with us at interview/enrolment).
To join the course you will need:
Extended Diploma in a Creative Subject (Pass), OR 2 A Level (including one at Grade A-E in an arts related subject) or equivalent qualification at Level 3. For your interview, you will need to have a portfolio of artwork from your previous education and/or free time.
The course is specifically designed to be an effective bridging year from college/sixth form into arts courses at university or art school. You will be ready for the demands of a degree-level course in subjects such as:
Fine Art, Sculpture, Illustration, Animation, Design, Graphic Design, Digital Art, Photography

There is an additional cost of £75 for materials for your course, details of which will be given at enrolment.
This course is designed to be a bridging year to an Arts degree course at a university or specialist art school. You will be expected to experiment and develop your own styles through use of a variety of media in project assignments, presentations and critiques. This will encourage you to develop the range, style and quality of your work while also developing collaborative and communication skills. It will prepare you for intensive preparation and portfolio development required for successful progression to higher education, with the ultimate aim of employment in an area of the creative industries.
Disciplines will include photography, digital design, fashion & textiles, graphic design, concept art, sculpture, fine art and print making. You will be taught by a group of lecturers each with their own specialism.
The course is designed to ensure students will come away with a strong body of work that will enable them to be ready for their next steps.
The year is structured into modules, tailored to the demands of a Level 4 course:
The course is assessed through ongoing observation and portfolio work.
Students are typically taught in class sizes of 8-10.
