Course Summary

This course is designed for students aspiring to work in an agency or freelance within the creative industries. It provides a platform to develop your creative enterprise skills through start-up projects and professional practice.You will have the opportunity to establish your own creative industry business, honing your craft while building essential skills in marketing, social media, and business management to succeed in the industry. From running film festivals and creating start-up businesses to liaising with clients on your passion and business ideas, this course offers a dynamic, hands-on experience tailored to your goals.This qualification also supports you in creating a professional portfolio, equipping you to launch a business or establish yourself as a freelance consultant.

An HNC/HND in a creative subject or a Distinction in a creative based Level 3 qualification.

Students will be in College over four days per week, and will be taught 7 - 9 hours per week. The reminder of the time will be spent working with their ‘main’ client: Nescot. Students will be working closely with the marketing department, filming and editing promotional films, events and student interviews, as well as any outside opportunities that present themselves. This qualification supports students to develop a portfolio of work to either support their CVs and/or be able to set up their own business as a freelance consultant.

Students are typically taught in class sizes of 6 and assessment takes place via group work, presentations and business plans.

Course modules will include:

1) The Creative Entrepreneur
◦ Focus: Skill-building for business planning and marketing strategies.
◦ Outcome: Students gain the tools to create a comprehensive business plan tailored to their startup venture.

2) The Creative Practitioner
◦ Focus: Building a diverse portfolio through real-world projects such as working with clients, organizing events like film festivals, and exploring investment opportunities.
◦ Outcome: A year-long immersive project fostering practical experience and a dynamic portfolio.

3 The Creative Enterprise
◦ Focus: A capstone project where students present their business plan and portfolio to an industry panel.
◦ Outcome: A polished final portfolio and business plan, critiqued by industry professionals, preparing students for the professional world.
