More than 30 students from across Nescot attended a new award ceremony in November aimed at celebrating success and achievement.

Every department across the college nominated a ‘Student of the Term’, with Directors of Faculty choosing an overall winner from their areas.

The students, together with their Heads of Department, were invited to a celebration event with the CEO and Principal, Frances Rutter, in which they were presented with their certificates.

“The ceremony was a great opportunity for us all to celebrate our students’ achievements in all its forms,” Mrs Rutter said.

“We’re committed to recognising all the exceptional things our students do and the ways in which they excel and go above and beyond.”

Student of the Term awards will be held three times a year, with winners then eligible for the annual Further Education Awards, held at the end of the academic year.

At the ceremony on November 14 students were recognised for achievements and qualities including their work ethic, their dedication, and for overcoming challenges.

Motor Vehicle apprentice Alex Galloway won Student of the Term for his department and his faculty, after being named Outstanding STEM Apprentice at the SATRO awards in September.

“It was great to be nominated for an award,” Alex said. “I’m really enjoying my course and I work hard, so it’s nice someone feels I’m doing well.”

Other students who received awards including Teacher Training student Patricia Brown, Sport student Daniel Attfield-Ford, Hair and Media Makeup student Ruby Cocker, Business students Jessica Dean and Freddie Sibley, Plastering student Thomas Chandler, Performing Arts student Elisha Cox, Brickwork student Chris Dodson, Carpentry student Jack Merricks, Art and Design student Hollie Newman, Foundation Learning student Zac Reynolds and Electrical student Peter Keen.
