OSTEOPATHY CLINIC

We are an Osteopathy training clinic offering affordable osteopathy to members of the public. Your senior student practitioner will be supervised by a General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) registered Osteopath.

What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a way of diagnosing, treating and preventing health problems by looking at the way the body’s muscles, bones and tissues move. It is a gentle and effective hands-on approach to healthcare, based on the principle that the way your body moves influences how it functions.

Osteopaths are highly competent healthcare professionals, recognised by the NHS as fully qualified to diagnose and treat independently

Osteopathy can be used to treat a huge range of musculoskeletal conditions including neck pain, work-related postural problems, sciatica, frozen shoulder, pregnancy-related aches and pains, sports injuries, headaches and the symptoms of arthritis. As well as hands-on treatment an Osteopath may recommend a programme of exercises to aid recovery.

Many people use Osteopathy as a way of treating aches and pains whilst minimising the use of drugs or surgery. Osteopaths work with their hands, using a wide range of treatment techniques, including massage, stretching and manipulation, as well as gentle release techniques that are suitable for children and elderly people.

Your first appointment

Your first appointment will be 90 minutes long. Any subsequent treatment sessions will be 45 minutes.

  • We ask you to arrive ten minutes early to allow for the issuing of a Visitor Pass at our main college reception desk.
  • Please wear loose clothing or bring something to change into e.g. shorts and vest etc.

What happens at my first osteopathy appointment?

Your student practitioner, under the supervision of a fully qualified and GOsC (General Osteopathic Council) registered Osteopath, will first complete an assessment. This will involve talking about any medical history that may be relevant to the complaint, looking at your posture, watching your movement and possibly conducting a few simple exercises. They will then make a diagnosis and advise you if they think your condition may require referral or more specialist help.

If Osteopathic treatment is advised this will involve hands-on treatment, to help reduce muscle spasm and improve movement, as well as exercise advice to help strengthen injured tissues. Osteopathy tends to take a gentler approach to many issues and it also takes a more holistic view on what may be the underlying problem.

I would like say a big thank you to the brilliant team of student osteopaths and for the wonderful customer service at the clinic. The prices are great and everyone at the clinic is nice and friendly. I had an appointment recently and I must say, with my background in personal training, I can appreciate good skill. I felt an instant change in my flexibility on leaving the clinic. I will be booking my next session very soon.
