Meet the Principal

Meet Julie Kapsalis MBE, Principal and Chief Executive of Nescot. Julie grew up just outside Epsom, so this college and community have been part of her life for years. With over 20 years’ experience in economic development, skills and enterprise, she’s led Nescot to a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted, and built brilliant partnerships with local employers, from the cruise industry to Epsom Downs Racecourse, opening real doors for students.

In 2026, her hard work was recognised with an MBE for Services to Economic Development, presented by the Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle. But ask Julie what matters most, and she’ll tell you: seeing students and the local community thrive.

Nescot rated ‘GOOD’ by Ofsted in every single area

Osted GOOD image
In 2023 Ofsted rated Nescot as ‘Good’, which is the second-highest possible grade. The inspectors praised the ‘effective teaching’, ‘supportive and caring’ culture, and said students ‘enjoy their courses and are motivated to succeed’. Other highlights include:

Staff

  • “Experienced and expert staff help most apprentices to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours they need to become better at their jobs.”
  • “Experienced staff use their secure knowledge of students with high needs to plan learning carefully and support them well […] as a result, students with high needs become more confident, independent and ready for adult life.”

We are so proud to be judged to be ‘Good’ in every single area. It’s testament to our culture of teamwork, innovation, inclusion and of putting the learner at the core of everything we do.
