- You apply online.
- If you have an employer tick ‘YES’. You will be asked for your employer’s details. Your application will be routed to the Apprenticeships Team for processing.

When we have established the employer is suitable, the employer completes paperwork detailing the contract with the apprentice.
- The Assessor will invite the apprentice and employer to an interview, to check the prior skills and learning. The interview form is sent to the employer to confirm and sign. On receipt of the interview form, the Apprenticeship Team produce the contracts. The employer will sign the Employer Contract, the Total Negotiated Price Plan and the Training Plan. The apprentice signs the Training Plan. When all paperwork is returned, we ask the employer to confirm that the Apprenticeship Service is completed, by running a payroll.

- Joining instructions will advise you what your regular day in college will be, any PPE or uniform requirements and who your Assessor will be.
- Most apprenticeships start after the October half-term break, however, some start earlier, and others enrol later in the year.

Fee payment
A DBS is a check on your criminal record with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
If you were born on or after 1 September 2007 and are attending a Further Education course, there will be
no tuition fees payable at enrolment. You may be asked to pay for course fees such as trips, books, materials
or equipment later on. All other Further Education students may be liable for tuition fees.
If you are taking out a tuition fee loan to pay for your fees, you must pay any fees not covered by your tuition
fee loan on enrolment. Please ensure you apply for your tuition fee loan in plenty of time for your loan to be
approved before you enrol. If you are funding the course yourself, please refer to the ‘How to Pay’ section
of this leaflet.
All students assessed as overseas students must pay all fees in full upon enrolment.
Some Further Education students may be eligible for help towards their tuition fees. Please see our Student Finance page for further advice.
Students who may qualify for free or reduced fees on some Further Education courses at Level 3 and below are:
- Students in receipt of certain benefits*
- Students aged 19 – 23 years studying their first full Level 2 or 3 qualification
- Students who are working and earn less than £25,750 gross (outer London), £27,007.50 (London
Boroughs)†
*Please provide written proof, dated within the last 3 months at or before you enrol.
†Please provide written proof dated within the last 3 months (pay slip, employer letter or contract)
Students on eligible Further Education courses at Level 3, 4, 5 or 6, who will be aged 19 or over at the start of their course may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of their tuition fees.
Loans are available to students who are in work and who are unemployed. You need to be aware that if you decide to withdraw from the course your loan payments to us will stop and you will be personally liable for the balance.
Please ensure you apply for your tuition fee loan in plenty of time for your loan to be approved before you enrol.
Unfortunately, not all of our courses are eligible for a fee reduction using the above schemes or a tuition fee loan.
Generally, courses beginning with an ‘PFC’ code do not qualify for loans or fee remission, as they are not subsidised by government funding and are non-refundable unless the College has made the decision to close the course for any reason. Please contact our Student Finance Advisers to find out the arrangements for your course.
If your course does not qualify for loans or fee remission or you do not require a loan you will have to pay your fees in full.
If your course is a full academic year in length and your fees are £600 or more, you can pay in 3 instalments, 50% of the fees at enrolment, 25% on 1st December 2026 and the balance on 1st March 2027 by Recurring Card Payment. Should you decide to withdraw from the course 3 weeks after the official start date, you will still need to pay the balance of your fees.
If you are doing a short course of less than a full academic year or your fees are less than £600.00 you must pay your fees in full at enrolment, unless you are eligible for a fee reduction.
Payments are made during main enrolment by any of the following methods at the enrolment desk.
- Recurring card payments – available if fees are over £600. Please bring your payment card with
you. If someone else is paying your fees they must accompany you to your enrolment appointment. - Credit / debit card – unfortunately we do not take American Express.
If you are employed by a Local Authority or the NHS you must bring a Purchase Order / number with you when you enrol.
For all other learners whose employer is paying their fees and who do not have access to a purchase order, please bring with you a letter from your employer. (This information can also be provided via email in advance of your appointment to income@nescot.ac.uk.
The confirmation should:
- be on headed paper if possible
- confirm your name and course and how much they will pay towards your fees;
- give details of who/where to send the invoice (company name, postal address, contact name and number)
- include a Purchase Order number (where possible).
If your employer is not paying your fees in full, you will have to pay any balance. If you do not have written confirmation from your employer you must pay your fees in full to be able to enrol.
If you have any questions, please contact our Finance Department.
